RNIP West Kootney Point Calculator

1. Family / Friend in the West Kootenay Region:

The candidate or, if applicable, the candidate's spouse/common-law partner has an existing personal connection to a permanent resident of Canada or a Canadian citizen who has been living in the West Kootenay region for a minimum of 1 year. The connection will need to provide written confirmation of their intent to assist the candidate with settling into the West Kootenay. The connection must be currently living in the West Kootenay (unless the connection is a dependant)

  Close family connection
Canadian spouse/common-law partner, parent, sibling, or child of candidate or spouse/common-law partner of candidate. Each individual confirmed connection receives points. (maximum 2 connections; maximum 8 points)
  Medium family connection or friend
Cousin, niece, nephew, or friend of candidate or of spouse/common-law partner of candidate. Must be 22 years or older. Friends must have no relation through blood, adoption, marriage or be your employer.(maximum 1 connection; maximum 2 points)

2. Living in and previous travel to the West Kootenay Region:

Candidates will be asked for proof that they reside in the region.The committee may ask for proof of residence and travel (tickets, hotel stays or other documents) * Points from a & b may NOT be combined *

The candidate resides in the West Kootenay and, at the time of application, has been living here for:
  12-24 months
  36 months or longer
  If the candidate does NOT live in the region and they have previously spent 7 nights or more in the West Kootenay region.

3. Work in the Region and Priority NOCs:

The candidate has accumulated full time work hours with an employer OR employers in the West Kootenay for:
  18 months
  2 Years
  30 months
  3 or more years
  The Candidate has a full-time job offer (confirmed on the IMM 5984) in a West Kootenay identified priority NOC sector identified here:
Truck driver NOC 7511
Health Care Aide NOC 3413
Community Support Worker NOC 4212
Early Childcare Educator/Assistant NOC 4214

4. Wage and Previous Work Experience:

  A job offer with a wage which exceeds the minimum of $22.00 per hour will receive one (1) point for every additional $1.00 per hour.(maximum 10 points)
*In the event of a yearly salary, please indicate an hourly wage
 Candidates will receive one (1) point for every 1 year of full time (30 hours/wk or more) work experience related to the NOC code.(maximum 15 points)

5. Candidate's age on the day the application is received:

  26 to 40 years
  41 to 50 years
  51 years and older
 

6. Demonstration of proficiency in English & French:

Candidate demonstrated language ability by obtaining at least a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) and Niveaux de Compétence Linguistique Canadiens (NCLC) level 4 across all skills in both official languages.
 

7. Candidate's spouse/common-law partner and dependants:

The candidate's spouse/common law partner has 2 or more years of full time work experience in the last 5 years – domestic or overseas.
The candidate's spouse/common law partner has a minimum of 1 year full time work experience in the last 5 years in one of the West Kootenay priority NOC sectors identified here:
Truck driver NOC 7511
Health Care Aide NOC 3413
Community Support Worker NOC 4212
Early Childcare Educator/Assistant NOC 4214
The candidate's spouse/common law partner is authorized to work and has been working full time in the West Kootenay for a minimum of 1 year at the time of application.
The candidate's spouse/common law partner has language proficiency in English or French that exceeds CLB or NCLC level four (4) in all categories, as demonstrated by language test results.
The candidate's spouse/common law partner is not currently working here, but has a valid job offer in the West Kootenay region.
The candidate's spouse/common law partner has submitted language test results demonstrating a CLB and NCLC level four (4) or higher in both official languages.
The candidate has a dependant child enrolled in a formal education program in the West Kootenays.
