The Live-in Caregiver Program

Revital Immigration is dedicated to providing comprehensive information and support for individuals and families seeking care for their loved ones in Canada. Under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), Canada allows for foreign workers to enter the country to work as caregivers through specific immigration programs. These programs are run by the Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and are designed to meet the growing demand for in-home care services.

The Home Child Care Provider Pilot Program and the Home Support Worker Pilot Program are designed to bring foreign caregivers to Canada to provide care for children and support for individuals with high medical needs. These programs have specific eligibility criteria for both the employer and the caregiver, and the application process can be complex and time-consuming.

The Live-in Caregiver Program (LCP), which was previously open to new applicants, is now closed. This program was designed to allow individuals and families to bring foreign workers into their homes to provide live-in care services. Similarly, the Caring for Children Program and the Caring for People with High Medical Needs Program, which are also closed to new applicants, were designed to provide in-home care services to children and individuals with medical needs.

Additionally, the Interim Pathway for Caregivers program, which was designed to provide temporary work permits to caregivers while they awaited permanent residency, is also closed to new applicants.

However, if you are an employer who is seeking to hire a caregiver through the Live-in Caregiver Program, there is still an option available to you. You can only hire a caregiver through the program if you have found a caregiver who already has a work permit in the Live-in Caregiver Program and is looking for a new employer. Additionally, you must have been approved for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) that shows the caregiver has agreed to live in your home.

At Revital Immigration, we understand that the process of hiring a foreign caregiver can be complex and confusing. Our team of experts is dedicated to providing guidance and support to ensure that the process goes as smoothly as possible. Whether you are an individual or a family seeking care for a loved one, or an employer looking to hire a foreign caregiver, we can provide the information and support you need. Our goal is to make the process of hiring a foreign caregiver as straightforward and stress-free as possible, so that you can focus on the most important thing – providing the care and support your loved ones need.
